My credit card no. [protected].in my last statement you have charged rs 590/ as over limit penalty. If i am crossing the limit why you should approve purchase and the same should be informed to me before approving the purchase. My excess spending was only about rs 330/ and the penalty was rs 590/ which is unfair. Kindly refund the penalty amount of rs590/

HDFC Bank Customer Care's response Dear Customer,

We wish to clarify that, when the outstanding on your card account exceeds your assigned credit limit, an over limit fee of 2.5% of the amount exceeded the limit subject to a minimum of Rs.500.00 plus GST would get levied. Hence we suggest you to henceforth make use of your card within the assigned credit limit to avoid being levy of charges.
