[Resolved] HDFC Bank — request account closure 3 years back and now they say pay fine to open an nri account

This is Shruti Kurup, account number[protected] and branch : sector 17, vashi, navi mumbai .I had a salary account with hdfc while working with Wipro 4 years back and is inactive since then.I had requested via email as well as send documents via mail to deactivate that account as I shifted to USA. Now I wanted to open an Nri account and they say I have to pay 9000 to do so.

Please note that there is no provision to process account closure request through email. We request you to send a fresh application to the branch through courier or post for the closure of account.
