I have been working on closing a hdfc account since 2016, 3 separate closure requests were submitted and none were honored. As i had withdrawn the account balance based on the bank's suggestion, they however, did not close the account and i incurred charges for not maintaining balance within the account.
As it was a salary account, my company deposited some funds in there and the negative balance was sufficed by the bank withdrawing all these charges. I am posted outside india due to a job relocation.
I have raised complaints with the ombudsman and nodal officer, been to the back several times, however, no action has been taken so far.
Recently, upon my arrival in india, i requested the bank to reverse the charges incurred due to non-maintenance of minimum balance. They delayed the reversal charges.
Because of non-closure of my account, i have incurred rs. 8, 706.34 plus ecs return charges of rs. 1, 087.41.
The bank officials refuse to acknowledge that closure forms were submitted, insist that closure could have been done online.
I have been thoroughly harassed and incurred charges trying to retrieve the amount from them. Transportation charges to keep going back to the bank again and again, troubling my senior citizen parents to no end.
I also have a dmat account tied to this account which is still open after 2 years.
Request: to please reverse both non-maintenance of minimum balance charges and ecs return charges.
