I was approached by HDFC bank for a policy. Not to go into details, i took the policy. Before taking the policy, i asked their sales people (Ms Latha Iyer & Mr Vishal), whether i have to go medical tests, as i was about to travel immediately. In a rush to sell their policy, they refused any medical tests. I paid the premium and travelled and after 15 days i saw my policy is not active. When i called up, their supervisor (Ms Sukanya) tells me that medical tests need to be done and pending that my policy will not be effective.
I was forced to get my medical tests done in Africa (amidst all the corona scare) with an assurance that they will reimburse me the costs. I did my tests in Kenya and then they said doctor consultation report is pending. Again i went through the hassle of getting doctor report in Rwanda.
Finally my policy was active by end November (premium paid in september). After that i was following up with them for my reimbursement. Everytime they said this week, next week, 10 days. Finally they stopped replying me. Number of Whatsapp messages i sent but they didnt reply.
Finally i complained to their Nodal supervisor Mr NIkhil Singh and then he interfered and gave me assurance that the reimbursement will be done. Also he requested that I should reconsider HDFC bank for my other investments. He sent his few agents to talk to me. I met them and assured them on the investments. Its been 20 days since that - but till now i have not received my reimbursement.
Now i am frustrated and tired of all this. I have told HDFC guys to cancel my policy and return my premium in full (i even dont want the interest of 6 months). Now they are saying that you will bear heavy loss if you surrender the policy now.
Please help me in this. Why should as a consumer I be forced to accept the policy when it has been sold through unethical practices. I have on record all the whatsapp messages and email exchanges from HDFC bank. Was this information helpful? |
