Hyundai Motor India — Complaint for poor quality of hyundai i10 grand sportz engine chamber (Dl10-cd-9903)

Dear sir / madam,

Greetings for the day!

I am varun singh proud owner of hyndai i 10 grand - sports variant (Deisel) (Dl-10-cd-9903). This is my fourth hyundai car (Elantra, santro, i10 and i 10 grand.

I purchased this car on my wife's name 4 year back. Since then i have clocked around 38, 000 kms with this car. I was a satisfied customer till the last unfortunate event that occurred some time back.

I would like to describe the event first then i would like to draw your attention towards the poor quality or a major engineering defect in the car.

My wife asked me to take her and kids for a drive to anantgiri hills near vikarabad and around 100 kms from hyderabad on a sunday afternoon (25th june, 2017). We left home at 1 pm and went to anantgiri hills. While returning it was around 7.30 pm and it was raining very hard. On plain road driving at around 40-50 kmh and enjoying the weather with beautiful roads and with family.

Suddenly car stopped and engine got off on the blind turn, middle of the road. I got too scared as my family and kids (6 years old daughter and 1 year old son) was with me. It was raining to hard. Visibility was low. Since it was on a turn chances of somebody hitting from the back was higher.

So i asked my wife and kid to sit in the front i went out side in rain to get the help. I tried calling hyundai helpline for all in vein as it was not reachable.

I left my family there in the middle of the forest area and walked for around 1 km to get the help then one gentleman helped me and took me and my family to the nearby hotel (Haritha resort). It was all packed due to long weekend. After many request and approach we managed to get on shabby room. I informed local police about the car location and i left the car on the spot with blinkers on)

There i spoke to talwar hyundai service centre guy (Contact arranged by the friend) and he gave me several numbers for towing vendors. I contacted one and despite of their holiday on the occasion of eid they came in the morning (Flat bed towing vehicle) and towed the car till hyderabad.

We came next day morning. We were sitting in the car and car over the towing vehicle. It was such a awkward and humiliating situation.

Since it was a holiday no one was there from the body shop and i left my car there. Next day when i went there they said that chamber is broken there is hole in the chamber and due to oil loss they were suspecting engine cease. They also told me that the ground clearance of the car is very less and there is no cover for the chamber which can protect this loss.

Next day i went to my insurance company (National insurance) their surveyor mentioned that it may start after changing the sump and putting new oil. If it does not then engine work will not be covered.

He also mentioned the same thing that the ground clearance the material is of poor quality.

Body shop guys told me that they do not have the spare sump and it got stuck due to gst (Surprising).

I am yet to receive any update from hyundai service centre and i too affraid as the engine repair cost i wont be able to bear.

Why should a customer face the heat due to poor quality of the product?

When you are manufacturing a low ground clearance car and selling it over rs. 6 lakh then i feel putting a small metal sheet could protect such incidents.

Please understand that beyond money the level of trauma me and family went through. I really got scared as it was forest area, raining hard, kids were crying. I had to stay in pathetic hotel with almost no faculty for kids (Such a poor food). Since we went there with a idea to return home by 9 pm we are not ready to spend a night out with family at vikarabad.

I would humbly request you to please look into this and kindly provide me a solution. I have got videos and pics of the car getting towed.

Please understand that i am middle class man and fighting for survival in the society. I do not have money to get the car work done and i wont be paying the manufacturing and engineering defect.

I never thought that buying a hyundai will put me into this situation.
