I have been using ICICI credit card for around 2 years now. And all of sudden for this month, I'm charged with "Auto Debit Return Fee" and a tax on it. I had never opted for Auto Debit feature and always paid my bills manually. I recently called up customer care and they informed me that Auto Debit is a feature turned ON by default for ICICI credit card. So, that means Auto Debit has been there in my card for 2 years now. I do not understand how can such a feature be activated without acknowledging a user. And I understood that it gets triggered upto 5 days before due date. I have few instances in the past where I failed to pay the dues exactly on time. But, this auto debit never got executed. So, I understood it is a blatant lie. This is really frustrating and I have decided to end my relationship with ICICI, if this is how things move forward.

I had connected with the customer care team and did not receive a favourable reply. I think bank’s policy is not customer friendly at all and I have decided to end NRI account and Credit Card services with the bank. I will be forced to pay auto debit charges and will gradually stop all the transactions with the bank. I still do no understand one thing, like HDFC bank sends me a reminder about an auto debit to my email address few days before the auto debit date. But, ICICI bank doesn’t have such a courtesy to inform beforehand. They just want to loot money in some way or other. I regret opening an account with them and advice others not to do so.
