I am extremely disappointed that ICICI Bank closed my bank account without my knowledge, consent, or any prior notification.
The only communication I had previously received from the bank stated that if there were no transactions for 24 months, the account would be classified as dormant. However, I made transactions in the account after receiving that communication, so the account should not have qualified for closure on that basis.
Despite this, the account was closed without any notice, confirmation, or authorization from me.
This has now created a significant issue. The account was linked to my EPF account, and my EPF claim has already been processed and approved. However, the payment could not be credited because ICICI Bank closed my account.
As a result, I now have to:
Open a new bank account.
Complete EPFO KYC with the new account.
Obtain approval from my previous employer for the KYC update (despite not having worked there for the past four years).
Wait for EPFO to approve the KYC update, which itself can take over 15 business days.
Submit a fresh EPF claim and wait another 15 or more business days for processing.
This entire situation has caused unnecessary delays, inconvenience, and stress, all because ICICI Bank closed my account without informing me or obtaining my consent.
I request ICICI Bank to provide:
The exact reason for closing my account.
The date on which the decision to close the account was made.
Copies of all communications or notices that the bank claims were sent to me before closing the account, including emails, SMS messages, or postal notices.
The specific policy or RBI guideline under which my account was closed.
I expect a prompt explanation and appropriate resolution for the inconvenience caused.
