ICICI Bank has been repeatedly charging me under “POSDEC” (Point of Sale Decline) fees since 2021. These charges appear automatically and excessively, sometimes 20–30 times in a single day, whenever there is any balance in my account.
I do not receive any SMS notifications or merchant details for these deductions. The charges keep repeating even when I haven’t made any transactions. Every time I add funds, the deductions begin again unless I withdraw the money immediately.
When I contacted ICICI customer care, they simply said these are “Point of Sale Decline” charges but could not explain which merchant is initiating them or why their system keeps retrying failed transactions endlessly. Despite raising the issue multiple times, no clear explanation or resolution has been provided.
This has resulted in thousands of rupees lost over the years, without transparency or consent. As per RBI’s guidelines on Reasonableness of Bank Charges, every deduction must be transparent, disclosed, and proportionate, which ICICI Bank has completely ignored. Was this information helpful? |
