[Resolved] ICICI Bank — Spell mistake in Surname | |||||
I'm holding account with the ICICI bank from 2001: A/c:[protected] There's a spell mistake done in my surname by the bank authoring while opening the account. Since then I was submitting the requests to correct it - with one or the other reason they didn't do it. Recently I provided my passport, Pan, Driving license, Aadhaar card and SSC certificate copy to correct the name along with a lawyer's affidavit - they are not ready to accept those; Instead demanded for a declaration from Gazetted officer who works in State Secretariat. I said it's not a name change, it's a correction of spell mistake done by the bank people. I've even asked to show / tell me the proofs considered while name was typed - they don't have an answer. I don't understand for the mistake of bank people why should I suffer. Just for the reason that I don't want to loose the banking history of 15 years I'm sending the requests, but now I would like to close the account. Thanks, Anand Was this information helpful? | |||||

ICICI Bank has habit of throwing the letter back and sending from customer care online to email and then to branch. These people feel we have free time to do all this. Even in my surname there was mistake and I am still fighting with them for correction at Gandhidham branch.
I am holding my salary account is ICICI bank sector 34 branch Chandigarh. My name initials in the bank in V D Misra but my correct name is V D Mishear. There is a spelling mistake of missing h in Misra in Bank account. I am holding my account for the last 17 Yrs. The name on ICICI debit card and credit card is correct. Even I have custodian minor account also of my minor daughter in ICICI account. I approached to Bank no of times even there representative also visited my house and assured that it will be done. But so far no action. This is not good attitude of the bank. I showed my PAN card, Adhere card and Govt ID also. Peel's do needful. My account no. Is[protected].

I raised this case via email to customer care but they referred to branch. The branch manager is asking for Gazette certificate which I don't have. they suggest me to close account. Unfortunately my name along with my father name is misspell, when i approached to bank to correct the name, surprisingly they was advise to close it instead of correcting it.
I said it's not a name change, it's a correction of spell mistake done by the bank people.
