I wanted to complain against IRCTC cancellation charges. They are nothing but a ripoff of customer money. I had booked an e-ticket for 4 passengers for 29th April which was in W/L status at the time of booking. Since the ticket had not moved i had to plan for alternatives i chose to cancel the ticket (was in W/L 79 thru 82). IRCTC deducted 60 rupees per passenger on a wait-listed ticket. I feel railways is using cancellation as a mode of earning money. Their cancellation policy on W/L tickets is vague (Policy states If your ticket is not confirmed and is under the status of RAC or Wait-listed ticket, no cancellation charges for railway tickets are applied Rather, clerk-age charges is deducted from the cost of the ticket and balance amount is refunded to the bank account / credit card account). I don't understand what clerk-age is there on a e-ticket. where the cancellation is done by the customer Was this information helpful? | |||||

but when we cancel the ticket, service charge which was deducted on ticket will not be refunded.
if there is no service by railway. why they are not refunding the service charged money.
