[Resolved] Indigo Airlines — charging of due for extra baggage weight | |||
My niece was travelling to trivendrum from mumbai on 21st july. While booking ticket, student option was not available so could not book ticket under student catagory. Being a student, she has to carry some extra luggage. Even after showing i card and telling them facts, she had to pay rs 4000/-. I request you to refund amount charged as extra luggage carried by her is for starting of new academic year. Thanking you.. Was this information helpful? | |||

As checked, the mentioned booking is made under regular fare not under student discounted fare. You may carry up to 15 Kg of check-in baggage and 7 kg of hand baggage in one bag only including laptop/ladies. Hence, our staff advised you to pay for excess baggage. I have written very clearly that the option to book ticket under student discounted fare was not available on your website on the day of booking. Hence we had no option to book her ticket under normal quota. At the time of checking in, my niece did show her I - card as a proof of student of a very reputed Govt. institute. This should have been considered by Indigo duty staff and supervisor. The booking could not be made under student discount only because the facility was not available on your web site. Please look into this and refund the extra baggage allowance charged to my niece.
We do understand your concern. However, please know that student discounted fare benefits can be availed only if you are booking under the particular fare. We hope for your understanding.
