Recently[protected] I bought a Diamond Jewellery from Khazana Jewellers, Jayanagar, Bangalore-560011 worth Rs 53600 and a black beaded gold chain worth Rs 25, 430.
I started wearing the jewellery only starting Dec 2015 (since this was a mangal sutra pendant and my marriage was on Nov 23rd) and in the month of Feb I noticed that one of the 67 pieces of diamond is missing.
So i suddenly realized that this is due to a defect in the making since I have never used it roughly or have touched the jewellery anywhere which could have caused this. To compare with i realized that I have many diamond jewellery that I have bought from other vendors like Tanisq which have no such issues even after a rough wear and tear.
I went to the shop to report this defect of the missing diamond stone and the Manager Raja spoke to us in a way as though it was our mistake that the stone was missing. He looked into the jewellery careful and although to the naked eye it is clear that there is no wear and tear on the jewellery he said that it was definitely due to mishandling and not ready to accept that is is due to their making issue.
Being a honest citizen of this country I am 100% sure that I have not mishandled this jewellery, firstly because it was special to me and expensive and secondly since I wear it on the neck and it is short in length it is highly unlikely to get dropped and get scratched anywhere.
The way the manager spoke to me, I am convinced that he is trying to hide the mistake from his side by putting the blame on us. This is definitely a defective jewellery piece.
We have submitted the jewellery to Khazana Jewellery Jayanagar and they have asked for 700Rs for the missing diamond plus and gold charges if needed.
Firstly I am shocked that they are asking us to pay for their defective product and also not offering a replacement for the same cost. The only thing that they are offering is the exchange the jewellery at a lower price (minus 5k making charge).
In any case, all of the above is a loss to me (customer) who purchased the product a such a high rate trusting the jewelers and now have to bear the cost of repair and also owning a defective piece for the rest of my life.
I want an exchange at the same cost of the jewellery with no deductions at all. This is what most product companies do (replace the defective product). Hence I would recommend Khazana Jewellers to do the same.
I am attaching the original purchase bill and repair memo.
