Konkan Railway — Cockroach menace

Despite several complaints no cognizance is taken by the railway authorities to clean or fumigate the compartments to eradicate the menace of swarming cockroaches. I was travelling from Ratnagiri to Thane on Jan Shatabdi on 27th Dec 2013 (PNR No. [protected]/ CC class ), when dinner was served by the railway caterers on the small attached table there were cockroaches everywhere. The site itself was so repulsive that no wonder next day some of our family members had stomach upsets probably due to food brought at Ratnagiri and kept in unhygienic condition. It is unfortunate that one of the largest railway network in the world does not give primary importance to cleanliness and hygiene. Pramod Mankar
