Kotak Mahindra Bank — Account Statement does not mention account type | |
I hold a NRE account with Kotak Bank (CRN[protected] and have made various transactions through my NRE account. I was surprised when the mutual fund house demanded that I provide a Debit Certificate from Kotak Bank to prove that the money to fund the MF purchase was paid through NRE account. On inquiring with the mutual fund house the reason for the odd request I was told that the bank has not provided the information directly to the mutual fund house as happens with other banks. When I downloaded the account statement and also looked at the previously received statements, I noticed that the account type is not mentioned on the statement. This is a basic information which should have been provided by the bank on the account statement. I raised the matter with the bank and they have closed it without providing me a resolution. This has not happened the first time, there are many previous occasions where I have seen this kind of behaviour from the support office. I have taken up with the local office many time as well as online but to no avail. I have written this to the top management on 29th Oct 2016 but have not received any feedback.
