Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter with great urgency and disappointment to formally raise a complaint against Motorola regarding my Motorola Edge 50 Neo smartphone, which has become completely non-functional after installing the official Android 16 update pushed by your company.
Description of the Issue:
My device was functioning perfectly before the Android 16 update. Immediately after the update was installed, my phone stopped working completely — it does not turn on / is stuck on the boot screen / displays erratic behaviour. There has been no physical damage, water exposure, or misuse of any kind on my part. The failure is entirely attributable to your software update.
Why Motorola is Responsible:
This was an official, company-distributed update — not a third-party modification. By releasing this update, Motorola implicitly guaranteed it was safe for use on Edge 50 Neo devices. A software update that permanently disables a consumer's device is a serious product defect and a direct violation of consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Motorola is fully liable for any damage caused by its own officially released software.
This is Not an Isolated Case:
I have come across numerous reports from other Motorola Edge 50 Neo users across online forums and social media platforms who have suffered the same fate after the Android 16 update. This pattern strongly suggests a widespread, systemic fault in the update — further establishing that the issue is on Motorola's end, not the user's.
My Financial & Personal Loss:
I am a working-class individual who saved hard-earned money over a long period to purchase this phone. My mobile device is not a luxury — it is my primary tool for daily livelihood. I depend on it completely for professional communication and income generation. Due to Motorola's defective update, I am now unable to work, resulting in direct and ongoing financial harm.
I ask Motorola directly: Who bears responsibility for rendering a consumer's phone useless through an official software update? The answer is unambiguous — Motorola does.
My Demands:
Free repair or replacement of my Motorola Edge 50 Neo, as the damage was caused solely by your official Android 16 update.
Acknowledgement from Motorola that the Android 16 update caused this issue.
Compensation for financial loss and inconvenience suffered due to device downtime caused by your company's negligence.
Immediate rollback or fix of the Android 16 update for all affected Edge 50 Neo devices.
