Naukri.com — fake job and questionable security policies

Yesterday i was contacted by someone claiming to be from naukri.com. They said that my resume has been shortlisted by 2 mncs. They asked me to pay a security deposit of 2900 rupees which would be refunded upon selection. Then they mailed me from this id : aditiroy. [protected]@gmail.com asking for my relevant documents. The mail looked very authentic and i replied. But i later got a doubt when i observed it's from a gmail id. Next, they mailed me asking rs. 6780 for document verification. Which is when i knew for sure this is a scam. I didn't reply to it but later this girl claiming to be aditi roa called me and asked for the money when i said i don't want to go ahead with this and want a refund of the initail 2900 she started getting rude and arguing with me. The part that concerns me is that she said i can see that you have applied to a number of jobs recently. This makes me doubt the privacy policy naukri.com has in place. How much of my data is public? Why are these scammers able to access my data so easily. This has been a very bad experience for me and now i'm considering not using naukri.com anymore.
