Videocon Group, the largest Indian consumer durable firm, unveiled India’s first BEE star rated washing machines. The company has received 5 star BEE rating  for its top loading model Digi Dolphin Dlx and a 4 star BEE rating for Careen Plus which comes with a Tilt Drum. Now with star rated washing machines Videocon customers can save upto 30% – 33% of electricity.

Star rating by BEE is a budding concept in India, which has found a good response from customers. In fact, energy efficiency has become one of the top factors in a consumer's decision-making process after price, brand and colour. Though the concept is limited to refrigerators and air conditioners, it created a demand in the market for star rating of other home appliances.

Commenting on the development,  Jaideep Rathore, Chief Marketing Officer – Consumer Electronics & Home Appliances Business, Videocon Group said “In a normal Indian household, most people worry about energy consumption of electronic appliances. The inclusion of washing machines in the labeling programme is a good step towards helping households buying energy-efficient appliances.”

He further added “People today are increasingly becoming aware of the benefits of energy- efficient appliances. We at Videocon have always tried to give our customers energy efficient products. Now, with star rated washing machine, our customers will be able to save around 30% – 33% of electricity without compromising on the quality of wash. Going forward, we aim to get our entire range of washing machines star rated.”
