[Resolved] Nobroker — Scam in the name of rent payment | |||
Of late many rental agencies and other companies have begun to offer payment gateway services to enable people to pay utility services, rent etc through their credit card provided they are willing to bear with a nominal transaction charges. At present, CRED, RedGirraffe etc are offering such services. Even wallets such as Mobikwik provide such facilities. But it is made very clear in their terms and conditions and the user is notified or the transaction not even processed if the amount is inacceptable to the provider. However, this company makes it look on their payment page that the transfer happens instantly with a fee of 1.5%. If the amount is higher, it allows you to mark the payment as a deposit and nothing further. So from user reviews what I have understood is that if you do a test transaction of let's say 1 rupee, the payment gets immediately transferred. But the very next month onwards or from the time you make a payment exceeding a few thousand, the so called 'verification team' puts your payment on hold. Post that they find the lamest of excuses to reject the payment. It is not a simple rejection but they additionally charge money for refunding the paid amount back into the source credit card. There are countless complaints both on Google Play Store as well as on YouTube about how this company scams users by falsely promoting something but placing hideous "T&Cs" somewhere else. On the payment page, no such warnings or alerts are given to users that their payments will be delayed. You get a dozen emails and spam texts and so does your landlord saying the money will get processed on this date but it never does. HDFC Bank should take a note of these numerous complaints and stop endorsing them with offers of 5% cashback and what not. In the first place, many people opt for NoBroker despite the fact that the transaction charges are high because they project the platform as being one without any hassles of documentation. Aside of accusing you of false documentation, the staff also look for lame excuses like saying your agreement shows only 10k as rent but you transferred 15000 etc as the excuse to block your payment. The payment ought to be blocked prior to execution and not first get the money credited into their company account and then extort an atrocious sum of money by citing 'mismatch' or incorrect information. Let me ask these people trying to hold the morally high ground. This "Genesys Apartment" - are you paying commercial electricity bills or is it registered as a commercial building?
