NSDL — TAN number allotment

I applied for a TAN number on March 22, 2023. On March 23, 2023 I received an email from [protected]@nsdl.co.in giving me an acknowledgement number [protected]. I have been visiting their website regularly but all it says is "your application for TAN is under process at Income Tax Department". Visited to IT Office, Laxmi Nager, New Delhi but they say the TAN is under process at NSDL not them. Visit to NSDL Corporate office did not give any result; despite acknowledgement number they would not say where the TAT is held up or why and suggested frequent email/phone followup. Today is April 24 and the delay in TAN will lead to delay in TDS filing which has serious consequences.
Please help resolve going back and forth between IT department and NSDL is getting me no where
