[Resolved]  Redbus — wrongly booked female seat but operator also did not inform

Today i went through a very painful and unfortunate incident of not being able to travel even after doing the booking and even after being present at the spot 30 minutes earlier to the scheduled departure.

That's because i had by mistake booked a female passenger seat.

It is my mistake i didn't notice that it was ladies seat.

But having said this, the bus operator should also have informed me about this earlier. When i spoke to them at the spot, she said that she has mistyped my number while trying to call me and therefore didn't contact me at all.
Her if that's not her fault, she stated in a rude way that she is not even obligated to inform me whatsoever and that it's my responsibility to select the proper seat if i fail to do so, i lose my money. Period.
The bus conductor also asked me to step out of the bus because it was getting late for them. I know redbus doesn't hold responsibility for these things, but i still want to mention what i went through.

I also would like to bring to your notice that in your site, if i accidentally select the female seat, it just proceeds to the next screen.

I did not even type all my details because these details are taken from my login/account i guess. Sometimes, even if i logout, it still puts my details in the form (Maybe because of browser cache).

I know it's my mistake i did not check the gender field and that warning below. But i did it in a hurry as other travels were costly due to the festival season.
But if you are so particular about the female seat, then why don't you make the gender field in this page mandatory (Without which it will not proceed) and have a drop down of 'male' and 'female' instead of the site manually selecting it through a radio button?

I also would like to talk about he seat selection process below, i mean the legends are pretty confusing.

The ladies seat is just like the available. The only difference being that the seat's border is a very pale pink!!! I mean, seriously? From a distance it appears white only.
So you want us to peep into our laptops to find the difference between the available and the ladies seats? Also what is the one with the full shaded red/pink seat? There are 4 different types of seats
But only 3 legends?


​with all due respect, and after all the humiliation that i faced today from the travels agent and the conductor and paying 100 bucks to get to the stop through auto and all, i sincerely believe that i am not at fault.

My holidays are also ruined. I planned to leave today and return after new year.

Why the hell are you making customers suffer man??? Why are you punishing the customers like this man? After having paid 800 bucks for the journey, this is what i deserve?

Why can't you come up with a proper design for your site and ensure bus agents inform us in case we've done a mistake???

What is your testing team doing at all? Don't you have a customer review/ user experience team for your site before you go live? Do you have to wait for an incident to occur before you make your site foolproof?

I would be very glad to not use this website, but since it is the only one with many bus services available, i'm using it out of necessity, not because i want to.

Please arrange for a refund at least.

We understand your concern. The seat next to a female passenger can be booked only for a female passenger and it is highlighted in different color.

The passenger info field also displays a message that the 'ticket will be confirmed for a female passenger' and the same is displayed in the screenshot shared by you as well. We request you to check the gender field and book a ticket in future.

Hi redBus,
As you can see in the last row There were 2 seats available, still I can't book since I'm a male.
The funny thing is it's mentioned as female seat, but the lady who will be booking the seat has to sit beside a male after all.
Then what's the purpose of having a seat allocated to women, if they have to sit beside a male??
By the way, I wanted to book the seat, but because of this dumb system I can't.
