Yesterday, 8 Feb 2017 at about 1530 hours I went to the Reliance Digital Store in Thiruvanmiyur (Chennai, Tamil Nadu) to purchase a "HP Black Ink Cartridge # 678" for the HP 3450 Series e-all-in one printer/copier that I had previously also purchased from the same store.
Although they had the item and I was ready to pay cash (with a new Rs 2, 000 note) the sales people said they had no change and instead asked me to use a debit or credit card. This to me is not acceptable as it is up to me how I wish to pay - and so I had to leave the store without any purchase.
It is also worth noting that at the payment counter they have placed a printed sign that indicates that the store will not accept notes that have any writing on them or that may have any staple holes - as according to the sign - these notes are not "legal tender". This note is not signed not does it show any relevant official notice from the RBI that states such.
So in effect Reliance Digital is setting its own policy on note acceptance.
As a retired person who has worked in some 35 countries for the likes of the UN; USAID; Bechtel; Government of Saudi Arabia and others - I find that customer service by Reliance Digital is very, very poor to say the least.
I am now encouraging all my friends and colleagues to avoid RD and to instead try CROMA or other stores for their needed purchases.
What a pity that the name of Reliance - which used to mean quality is reduced to such ashes by poor service. Was this information helpful? |
