I purchased a sony vaio laptop on 20th april, 2014 from reliance digitial, phoenix marketcity, chennai for rs 46, 990.00.

The sales representative forced me to purchase additional warranty for 2 years provided in the name of resq and i was informed that this will cover installation and service of the newly purchased laptop.

On 15th april, 2016 there was an issue with the laptop and the laptop didn't turn on. I submitted the laptop to reliance digital, thiruvanmiyur on 17th april, 2016 for service under reliance resq scheme.

Two weeks went and i wasn't informed about the status of the complaint. Then after that i called the concerned person multiple times and there was no response. After number of attempts, some one from his family picked up the phone and said he has left the phone at home and he will be contacting me once he comes back home. He didn't even bother to call me back.

On 8th may, 2016 a sms was sent to me stating that my service call has been assigned to an would be attended by a technician. On 20th may, 2016 another sms was sent to me stating the service call has been completed. So, i visited the store and claimed the laptop. I was told that the technician couldn't resolve the problem in laptop and it would be assigned to another technician.

On 9th jun, 2016 it was assigned to another technician and they didn't even inform me about the status for a month. I called the reliance digital, thiruvanmiyur twice on 9th july, 2016. There was no proper response by them. So, i called the customer care and informed about it. They informed me that they have arranged a call back from the reliance digital, thiruvanmiyur. I got a call back around 5:00pm in the evening and i was informed that the laptop cannot be repaired and i will be paid 50% of the laptop price if age of the laptop is less than 2 years and 30% if it is more than 2 years. I

Yesterday, i went to reliance digital, thiruvanmiyur to claim the refund. At that time they told me that since, i had submitted the laptop to them before 3 days of the end of 2nd year, there are chances of 30% of laptop price to be claimed. When i ask the customer care center, i was informed that they don't have a defined policy for commercial solution and only the service center has to take a quote on this regard.

It means reliance digital resq doesn't have any defined policy by itself and it is just for taking additional money of the customer at the time of purchase of any product.

I have two questions to reliance digital resq.
- if i submit a product for service, is there an eta for the completing the service call? It's almost 3 months, i have submitted a laptop, only i am following up on this every day.
- if you don't have a defined policy, why you people sell the service to customer?

@consumers, please purchase products @ tata croma. They promise to service your product within 21 days. Failing of which, they would refund you a definite percentage of the product's price based on the product's age. They have given all these information in the product catalog and terms and conditions sheet
