3 of my family members (my wife, son & daughter in law) have been using jio prepaid mobile connections for several years. They had activated the International Roaming service long ago - perhaps in 2018 or 2019 by paying Rs.1102/- which piggy-backed some free minutes and SMS. Thereafter, they had never gone in for any IR PLAN during their stays abroad (Sweden) as they availed services at only pay-go rates. All of a sudden, since last October-November, Jio stopped the international roaming service for them resulting in their inability to connect to any network in Sweden. Several communications with Jio resulting in their insistence to have a base plan covering voice, data and SMS, while each one of my family is having active base plans without data. Jio says these plans aren't eligible for IR service.
This is perplexing! At the time of activating IR SERVICE (not plan), there was no such condition attached. Now they brought in this vague condition after using the IR service for so many years! Moreover, why should they insist on a plan which MUST HAVE DATA, knowing fully well that one cannot use this data abroad? Isn't it a grossly unfair trade practice, particularly since one will have to pay for the calls/data at pay-go rates as it is, apart from the base plan charges? I am sure, even Mukesh Ambani will denounce this, if he comes to know about it.
Jio should be better-advised to honour the original terms, and introduce their illogical terms to new users, if they feel so, and restore the IR SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. Was this information helpful? |
