Reliance Jio Infocomm — My JIO number re-issued to someone else

I tried using my Jio number after a gap of 4-5 months and also did a recharge which went through successfully. I was not getting the Jio signal and later when I visited the Jio store I was told my number has been re-issued to someone without keeping me informed. Jio store staff said that it is an automated process and the number will get assigned to someone else if a subscriber does not re-charge the number in time. How can Jio assign my number to someone else without informing me. My number has been registered on various sites for OTP and this a serious process lapse on part of JIO. It is as good as sharing customer credentials without his knowledge. I was made to purchase a new SIM and number. What about amount of recharge done, how do I get a refund from Jio?

Jio needs to review the above process of re-issue of number and ensure they strengthen the process of keeping the subscriber notified before the number is assigned to someone else.
