On 9 February 2026, I paid ₹2881 to purchase an international roaming pack for a Jio mobile number.
The roaming service never activated or worked at any time.
After multiple complaints and escalation through customer support and the Department of Telecommunications grievance portal, I was informed that the mobile number had already been recycled and allocated to another customer.
Jio confirmed that the recharge amount had been applied to the new customer’s number due to an internal system issue.
However, the refund was refused because the new customer declined to provide consent for reversing the recharge.
Summary of the situation:
• Payment accepted by Jio
• Roaming service never delivered
• Recharge credited to another customer’s account
• Refund denied
I escalated the issue through the Department of Telecommunications grievance process, but the case was closed without resolution.
The transaction has now been disputed with my credit card provider under “service not delivered.â€
Posting this here so other consumers are aware of the risk when recharging numbers that may have been recycled. Was this information helpful? |
