I am writing to lodge a formal complaint against Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (JioFiber) for unjust denial of refund and poor customer service post-cancellation of my broadband service.
I had opted for a prepaid JioFiber plan under [mention plan type – e.g., 3-months/6-months/annual], but due to unsatisfactory service and support, I raised a request for cancellation well before the expiry of the validity.
Despite initiating cancellation, I received a response from Jio stating that:
"Your plan rental (applicable for all monthly, 3 months, 6 months, annual rentals and any queued plans) will not be refunded if you disconnect your JioFiber services before the completion of your plan’s validity."
This is both unethical and unfair. As per consumer rights, if a customer is dissatisfied and chooses to exit the service, the unused portion of the subscription must be refunded.
Moreover:
The response from JioFiber shows no intention of resolving the concern.
There was no transparency or clarity about a "no refund" policy during plan purchase.
I was not informed about this clause upfront at the time of recharge.
Such conduct amounts to unfair trade practice and misleading the consumer.
I request the Consumer Forum to kindly look into this matter and direct Reliance Jio to:
Initiate an immediate refund for the unused portion of the plan.
Ensure pickup of the JioFiber device without any further delay.
Take appropriate action against such misleading policies and customer treatment.
I trust the forum will help ensure that the rights of consumers are protected in such cases.
