Dear Consumer Protection Officer,
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Simplilearn Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for misrepresentation, misleading guidance, and denial of committed services related to my enrollment in one of their certification programs.
Below are the detailed facts of the case:
On[protected], I enrolled for the Professional Certificate Program in Cloud Computing and DevOps – IIT Guwahati (IITG) through Simplilearn, guided by Mr. Ankit Tiwari from their sales team.
I paid INR 99, 999 for the program via a bank loan, trusting the information and assurances provided by their representative.
Simplilearn delayed assigning my cohort by over three months and conducted multiple induction programs (three times) during that waiting period. Later, they unilaterally changed the program from IIT Guwahati (IITG) to IIT Bombay (IITB), without my consent.
I refused to continue with the changed program and requested a refund, but Simplilearn denied it citing their refund policy, even though the program structure and institute were changed by them.
As an alternative, they offered a complimentary course – “Cyber Security Expert” with full access to course material, lab access, and digital keys. All discussions happened over phone calls, not formally documented in email.
Based on that verbal assurance, I agreed to continue and did not pursue a refund further. Simplilearn later sent an email about the course but did not clearly mention the denial of lab or digital key access. I assumed the email reflected what was agreed verbally.
Due to professional commitments, I could not start the course immediately and informed Mr. Ankit Tiwari, who assured me that I could join a later cohort when available.
When I finally joined the Cyber Security Expert program, the trainer informed me that no course material or lab access would be provided and that I should contact Simplilearn.
Since[protected], I have been continuously following up with their support, escalation, and delight teams, but they have kept dragging the matter without resolution. Eventually, I received a mail stating that the digital key would not be provided because it was a complimentary course, which contradicts the verbal assurances made by their representative.
This conduct clearly amounts to mis-selling, misrepresentation, and deficiency in service, violating consumer protection norms. I have suffered financial loss, mental distress, and wasted time because of Simplilearn’s unethical and misleading behavior.
Relief Sought:
Full refund of INR 99, 999 paid towards the course.
Investigation into the misleading behavior and verbal commitments made by Simplilearn representative Mr. Ankit Tiwari.
If the refund is not possible, immediate full access to the Cyber Security Expert course including lab, digital key, and course materials as promised.
Compensation for inconvenience, harassment, and financial loss caused.
