To,
The Grievance IRDAI
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding an unexpected premium increase on my health insurance policies:
Policy No. 1: P/700002/01/2025/060325 (Family Floater – Base Policy)
Policy No. 2: P/700002/01/2025/060326 (Top-Up Policy)
For the policy period 2024–2025, I paid a premium of ₹21, 103 (including 18% GST), which amounts to ₹17, 884 excluding GST. However, as per star health rep. recent communication (via email and telephone), the premium has been increased by approximately ₹1, 888X, citing an “inflation rate hike” approved by IRDAI.
My basic sum insured is ₹10 lakh, and the top-up cover is ₹1 crore. At the time of purchase, I was clearly informed that premium variation would occur only after I cross the age of 35. I am still below that age, and therefore, this increase appears to contradict the original terms communicated to me.
My concerns are as follows:
The premium hike was implemented without prior intimation or consent.
The justification provided (“inflation rate hike”) lacks transparency and supporting documentation.
The earlier assurance regarding premium stability until age 35 has not been honored.
My request for resolution:
Provide a detailed explanation and documentary proof of IRDAI’s approval for this hike.
Clarify why the increase was applied despite the age-related premium variation clause.
If the hike is unjustified, kindly revert to the original premium amount or provide an appropriate adjustment.
I trust you will address this matter promptly and share a clear resolution.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Regards,
N.S.PRAVEEN KUMAR
