State Bank Of India [SBI] — Mandatory insurance for opening savings account / FRAUD.

Address: SBI nigdi branch[011646]

This incident happened to me on 6th April 2022 Wednesday while submitting documents for a new savings account. My e-kyc was done after that an employee from the next counter shouted "Mam(to the one who was opening my account)uska vo opt message wala bhi kar dena.Indirectly what she ment was that give him the Group Personal Accident Insurance about which i was not been informed. The lady who was opening my account gave a print to 4 documnets out of which one was e-kyc..she said sir please sign fast there are people waiting bedhind you, make it quick i signed all 4 documents mentioning my name in it mean while she asked me for my phone and said sir there will be a confirmation code about your account opening coming to your phone so please will you give your phone to so that i could type it without mistake, i being a fool gave her my phone she said all process is done you just need send "GIYES" to this number which she had already copied she gave phone to me and said to quickly send it without any further delay and i sent it..After a minute a sms came that you have been charged a premium of rs200 for your insurance. It was my first time when i opened account in SBI.When i asked whats this insurance that i just purchased then she says sir it is a mandatory for every new account opening to have this. I kind of felt dicey the way she was talking when i came home i researched about this and came to know that is not at all compulsory to take this insurance while opening a account under age 65. I was so surprised with this unethical practice and even went to the Branch Manager next day who told me the same that sir we give this incurance to every new account opener, it is compulsory but when i said the sbi website does not at allsay that it is compulsory to have insurance while opening a account in sbi.And even if it compulsory was i wasn't told about it before. So he became rude then said sir its 200rs please don't make look like it was 2Lakh, i have other work to do.I was shocked what kind of answer was that.Still i wrote a hand written application to him saying about i wasn't made aware of this insurance before buying it and requested him to refund my money back on which he said sir its very hard and complicated process i will look after it "Hua to hua varna dont carry forward this insurance for next year".
