[Resolved]  Sterling Holidays Resorts — refund membership down payment amount and cancellation

I purchased sterling blue studio membership in July-2018. My Membership ID is 1239390 (Neha Mantri).

Here begins my story:

We (I and my husband) were constantly getting a call from Sterling Holidays about the exhibition held at Sayaji hotel Indore. They were calling and telling that you had received a 2N/3D holiday voucher free of cost and to collect the same you have to come to Sayaji hotel. We said we do not want it and we are not going to pay a single amount for anything. Then they told us that you do not have to pay anything, you can just come and collect the voucher. We thought of going there and when we reached the place, their representative (Mr Ved from Indore office) explained all the details of the membership.
We were bit impressed and told them (Ved and Shashank Srivastava) that we will decide on whether we want to buy or not, give us some time. He told us that this offer is only for today and you will have to pay a higher price if you do not en roll. We had no option but to enroll the same day.
We were charged an amount of 29638 Rs/- as down payment and we just paid 15000 at first and rest of the amount is supposed to be collected from our home same day, unfortunately we came home and found that because of some financial crunch(personal issues) we would not be able to continue this membership and we had conveyed the same to representative but he promised that he will get our refund back to us once we complete all login formalities and pay rest of the amount required for login. We queried many a times that we would be ok loosing 15000 rather than giving another 15000 and loosing double amount. But Ved made commitment to give us back the complete amount of 29638Rs once we finish all login formalities and once our ID is active. As per his instructions we proceeded further with login formalities and also paid rest amount on same day.
He asked us to verify OK when confirmation call comes for login. We did same, On receiving verification call from Chennai office we verified everything ok and in few days we received an email about membership activation.
I was continuously chasing Ved everyday to get membership cancelled and initiate refund process from day 1 of taking membership. He took few days to reply back to me regarding process for refund. Then after few days he asked me to drop a mail to Feedback Sterling and I drafted the mail asking for cancellation and initiating refund, for which I received a call and they said refund will not be possible as it exceeds 10 days time limit from date of purchase. But to us, no where it was mentioned prior by anyone in verbal or written communication that we need to cancel it in 10 days to get the refund. We were not aware of any such things and we were just following what has been told to us by Ved and we mentioned him at day 1 itself that we would not be able to continue and want our refund back. I mentioned everything on call to cancellation manager that I was not aware of 10 days policy and I was asked to complete all login formalities and verification OK in order to be eligible for refund which I did same. But they said you are not eligible for refund and it is not possible in any case.
I then discussed regarding email and call with Ved but then also he committed me that he is processing my refund process and asked me to wait for few days.
He gave us all false information, promises and took money from us on assurity that it will be refunded back in 45 days and the process is in progress, have some patience and dont call him again and again asking status as he will then cancel refund request in case we bother him much about it. So we were just waiting for a response from him and suddenly we got to know that Ved has left the organisation few days back. It was altogether a shock for us as we were blindly believing on what he was committing to us.
Now on talking to other members at Indore office (Anugrah Mandloi and Shashank Srivastava), we are just getting one thing that we would not be able to get the refund back in any case.
But we were never at fault and we had asked for refund on day 1 itself which was not even taken care of by representative and because of all his faults, we are suffering.
This might look like a long story to you, but this is what helpless people like us feel after spending the hard earned money on things like sterling holidays-who does not care and value their customers.
I would request you to please take all these things in consideration and process my refund immediately as I had already informed for same at first day to representative and just because of our innocence and blind trust we got fooled by such persons in your organisation.
If not then I will have to go to consumer court for all the false promises made by your organisation representative, which I do not really want to.

I had an interaction with Sterling representatives (Anugrah Mandloi and Gaurav Goyal) last Saturday. We had explained them what all had happened to us and how we were cheated by previous representative. We guys were not at fault at any stage and we were just doing as being instructed without any delay.
I would request Sterling Holidays to reconsider my request of refund and process the same as soon as possible because 30000 might not be a big deal/amount for such a big company like Sterling but it does makes a big difference for people like us who work hard to earn their living and happiness and are really afraid to loose a big amount just on silly reasons and carelessness or lack of knowledge of your company's representatives.

Hope to hear a positive reply from Sterling Holidays.

I hope your executive is looking at the issue and taking it on priority as from sterling feedback i am constantly getting emails about non refund of membership cancellation. I am not getting any positive approach from anyone in such a huge company.
Please try and proceed further my request of refund initiation.
