[Resolved]  Tata Motors — broken trust : manufacturing defect in new vehicle (tata nexon)

Dear Team,

I have recently bought a Tata Nexon (XM) model on 18th of March, 2018 from Concorde Motors Baner, PUNE. I am entirely dissatisfied with the product Quality as well as with the services provided to me by your Authorized Showroom. I am categorizing both the issues separately for your better understanding.

Delivery Issues :

1) The Car was already driven for more than 100 km at the time of delivery :

I asked for the reason of that from the sales person (Mr Ganesh), he told me that we drove it from Company’s manufacturing unit that is situated in Ranjangaon MIDC to the showroom. The on road distance of that place form the Showroom is just 70 km. How could have this Car been driven for 100 km then?. Moreover, why they people did not inform me regarding this earlier. I have not purchased a Car for the first time in my life. The Cars are driven ones but only for few like 20-30 kms, not more than that.

2) Improper paint on rear bumper :

There was some paint scratched out from the rear bumper which was looking ugly. When I asked, I was told that this might have been removed in the process of rubbing and polishing. This is not the type of delivery one can expect from a brand like TATA. Those people even noted my name for reference and assured me that they will register a complaint with the dealership and I will get a call very soon from Tata Support and Delivery Feedback to fix this. There is no such communication happened till the time of writing this email.

3) There were multiple Stains on Seats and were also looking unwashed :

The plastic cover of the seats was already removed and there were stains on the front seats. There was no proper paper floor mat provided and the stains were discovered on the mat between the dashboard and the car door also. I was told that the car was washed overnight and that was the reason for the dust and for not looking like new.

Manufacturing Defect Issue :

The immediate next morning from the day when I took the delivery of the Car, I observed that there was some oil leakage from it, then I immediately called the sales person and informed him regarding the engine oil leakage. He, then informed the service center about that and told me to drop the Car to the same. There, the Service Engineer was appointed for me to look into the matter. He spotted some Engine Oil leakage defect. I asked him that whether he has seen such kind of issue earlier, he told me that these things don't usually happen in new cars. Thereafter, I went to the CRM Team Manager, namely Miss M Sindhu, and told her the whole set of incidences happening to me since the time of taking of delivery of the vehicle. She told me that they have already informed the manufacturing team of the Company regarding the Manufacturing defect discovered.

After two days, I went to the service station to check the status of my Car and complaints. They told me that there were some discussions going on with the team from where TATA get the Nexon Petrol Engines manufactured ( Sanad, Gujarat) and that they were working according to their instructions, shared pics and videos about the leakage. But even after worked upon on those instructions, the Engine leakage problem was not resolved and that made them called upon a Support Engineer from Gujarat Manufacturing Unit and they did spend one more good day with him in the investigation and fixing of the relevant cause. After that, they ordered a part which was in transit.

After having a healthy discussion with them, I got to know that they are trying hard to resolve the issue by applying various permutations and combinations but they are yet unable to get the control over the problem and that is why according to them the vehicle is still not in the deliverable condition. It means, they are saying that the vehicle which was already delivered to me some days before is now not in the deliverable condition. They are telling me to wait for some more days so that they can make the vehicle in the deliverable condition. Its been a week now and I have not received any kind of communication from them till date.

All the things happening with me since the moment I have taken the delivery are not acceptable from a brand like TATA's. I have not yet driven my Car even for 50 Km and the problem has come. I don't think that there is any need to remind who you are and what image is there in the mind of the people for your brand. I had already worked with Tata Technologies, in the Software delivery team, JLR (Jaguar land rover) UK, and that is another reason for my trust on the brand.

I have also dealt with Maruti, Hyundai, Bajaj, TVS, etc. in the past. But, this was my first experience with TATA vehicle and I can say you very confidently that this is the worst one. I am getting all the advises from my friend circle and colleagues to make this matter popular on social media sites and file a complaint in the Consumer Redressal Forum. But, I know the value of time. I can understand very well how much time and efforts it takes to make a brand renowned globally. I don't want to initiate such any action, since it will only bring a slur of the name of TATA. Though, I have lost my trust in your brand, yet the only remedy that I am expecting from you at this point of time is Exchange my vehicle and provide me a new Car. I don't want to use that newly repaired Car again. Moreover, I want to get compensated for the mental harassment also which is greater than all the things explained above.

I don't wish to bring any legal action against you at this point, but I want to bring this to your notice, as I expect a proper resolution for the case ASAP.
