Tata Sky — Promotion of fake/invalid offer and subsequent bad customer support

On December 11 2015 around 3:00 PM, I got a call from Ashutosh of Tatasky backend department. He mentioned that I have not used Tatasky for 18 months and asked me the reason. As I relocated to an area where Tatasky is not available I stopped using it. But recently in the same society, big Tatasky dish has been installed and so I agreed to the offer proposed by Ashutosh from Tatasky which was Grand Sports Special pack at 50% off. I also inquired about the HD box connection and activation as my previous subscription was SD. He explained that I have to pay HD access fee + set top box + Grand Sports Special pack price at 50% which was in total around[protected]. I agreed to this offer and provided him information of my address for relocation. He also mentioned after the installation of set top box I have to call this number, [protected], for activation of my offer and subscription. The next day, December 12 2015, I received a call from Tatasky technician and he came to my house and fixed the HD box. All is fine till then. I called the number provided by Ashutosh as he mentioned and asked about my offer, the tatasky customer care executive who attended the call said there is no such offer on my account. I asked them to recheck but they said there is no such offer of 'Grand Sports Special pack at 50%' for my account. I told the technician I'll talk to the customer care and then he can come back and activate the connection. He left without charging anything, which was expected. When I contacted the official tatasky customer care number,[protected], they too said the same thing, that there is no 'Grand Sports Special pack at 50%' offer for my account. I said that I received a call from person named Ashutosh from Tatasky Gurgaon regarding the offer, but the customer care people were not ready to hear me and repeatedly said they don't have any records of Tatasky executives calling me on 11 December 2015 and said it could be fake/prank call. But the catch here is 1. If the call is prank as mentioned by the Customer care people, then how come Tatasky technician has come to my place and installed a HD set top box? 2. The Customer care people have my relocation request, but they cannot have it if the previous day's call is from a fake Tatasky customer care, this is really creepy. If this is true then there is serious security hole in Tatasky systems. 3. If there is no security compromise of Tatasky systems, how come the systems have my relocation request? when I didn't request for it myself. So definitely the previous day's call is from Tatasky. 4. Also Customer care executives denied that the request was placed on December 11 2015 and mentioned that request was placed on 12 December 2015. This is very untrue as I never contacted Tatasky for relocation on 12 December 2015. 5. I hope all the calls are monitored and recorded, they will provide insight into this issue. This is a very bad user experience. If the call from Ashutosh, who claimed to be from Tatasky and gave me the offer of 'Grand Sports Special pack at 50%', is a true prank/fake then there is no issue. But it doesn't look like because: 1. The technician seemed to be genuine Tatasky person as he didn't charge and fixed the HD Set top box. 2. The number given by Ashutosh for availing the offer seems to be Bangalore Tatasky call center number. 3. Above all the official Tatasky systems have my relocation request and details, which I never requested directly, but requested only via Ashutosh. 4. Lastly the sad part is, as the official Tatasky systems have my relocation request, I asked the Customer care executive to trace the details of request such as who has taken the request, who approved etc. But the customer care executive said they could not track from where the request has originated, which is so creepy. Looks like either Tatasky systems have serious security hole that anyone from outside can access their internal systems or there is serious miscommunication between departments or something seriously wrong is happening with consumer offers etc. Whatever it is, it was really a bad experience and I'm leaning towards leaving Tatasky. I hope Tatasky looks into this issue and resolves it.
