Trai — airtel - international roaming enabled and charged without asking | |||
Dear sir, i am a postpaid customer of airtel ([protected]) for about 20 years and have never defaulted on any payments or raised any issues with billing. Recently i travelled overseas and i did not request airtel to enable any services on my phone. I checked my whatsapp from wifi. However it now seems that airtel enabled roaming by default and now are asking me to pay rs. 649/- per day for the days which i used whatsapp (13 days). I complained to their nodal officer and to put me underpressure, i get an email saying that if you do not pay the amount (Rs. 649 for 13 days = rs 8690/-) then u have to pay rs. 1, 690522/- as usage charges. My contention is that if i have not asked for enablement of the service, why was it enabled? On call with the customer services, the lady told me that we sent you a mail later in the day after leaving india. I was on holiday and i did not check any email either.
