TRIP.COM — Flight cancellation refund

I booked a return flight with Trip from the UK to Krakow in Poland. Just over two weeks before the flight, I was informed the flight outbound had been cancelled. I called Trip Customer services who told me I could be refunded the outbound flight but not the inbound one as "this one wasn't cancelled". I could not get a full refund, despite the fact that the new flights being offered did not suit my travel plans so cancelled the trip all together. On the phone to the agent, they confirmed I would not need to do any further action and that the refund would be processed. The next day, I got an email asking to confirm cancellation - I responded to confirm, despite the fact the flight was cancelled and I could not get on it anyway.

One month later and my refund was still not through. I contacted Trip.com who said they could not refund as the "flight had passed". I explained I wanted compensation for the fact they had not processed my refund in time. They kept ignoring this point and I received several emails stating "the flight refund cannot be done as the flight has passed"

I have asked for compensation from Trip.com for an administrative error, to which they have declined and not addressed my complaint. Do not book with this company, they have processes in place to ensure they take your money with no service being given
