Uber claims that i have to pay them rs 210 for a ride that i booked via credit credit. When i told them that their driver ashok kumar, mumbai, took the fare from me in cash they continue to insist i pay them the fare by cc, so, i am being charged twice for one ride, once by their driver in cash and later by uber via cc; their response to me:
Hi rakesh,
On checking this, i see that the trip you are referring to was a non-cash mastercard 5589 trip. Riders are expected to pay by the payment method chosen before they request a ride.
The riders on our platform are required to pay according to the payment method they choose at the time of requesting the ride and any cash paid on a non cash is considered to be a transaction outside the system.
Unfortunately, we cannot go ahead with a refund.in order to avoid such issues in the future, please confirm the payment method you choose before requesting the ride.
Uber.
My response to them:
My friend mayura ([protected]@gmail.com), cc'd on this reply to you, is witness to the fact that i paid your driver ashok kumar the fare in cash when we reached our destination. She got into our cab at santacruz west and travelled with me up to our destination sea princess hotel, and that is where i paid your driver in cash. It is now evident to me that your driver asked for cash payment from me with the intention to cheat, because, if he knew, and you claim, that i had booked the cab with the cc option why did he seek cash from me and if i had not paid him via cash nor cc then why did he not wait to be paid via either mode of payment and ride away? Since when have you offered your customers 'pay-when-able option'? Your driver knew that he can take cash for me and not register the payment because you guys at uber, unlike ola, have an idiotic policy that if a customer books by cc then he must must must pay only by cc only!! Ridiculous! You are hiding behind thus loophole and do not want to accuse your driver of being the cheat but are harassing me with your allegations and claim of not having paid the fare by cc.
