Dear Vespa,
I am writing to express my extreme frustration and anger with the disgraceful service my wife and I have experienced at your dealership. This entire ordeal has been nothing short of a nightmare, and we are at our wit's end.
Five months ago, my wife and I began searching for a second-hand Vespa for her daily commute. We visited your so-called "authorized" dealer, MS Motor, in Puzhal, Chennai, on April 21, 2024. They showed us a yellow Vespa priced at ₹75, 000, and, trusting them, we paid the full amount in cash on the spot. They assured us that the vehicle would be serviced and all formalities, including the name transfer, would be completed promptly.
What followed was a complete and utter betrayal of our trust. We waited a week—nothing. We called repeatedly—no response. We were forced to travel more than 10 kilometers to the showroom multiple times each week, only to be met with excuses and delays. For three weeks, we were strung along, wasting our time and energy, only to find out that the vehicle had been sold to someone else for ₹80, 000! They lied to our faces and made us wait nearly a month, knowing full well they had already sold the Vespa.
The level of dishonesty here is beyond comprehension. My wife works at a school, and the academic year was about to start. We were desperate for the vehicle, yet we were treated with utter disregard. When we confronted them about this shameless deceit, they had the audacity to offer a new vehicle at ₹1.4 lakhs—a price we never intended to pay. We reluctantly agreed, despite knowing that my wife's low credit score might be an issue. But the dealer assured us it could be managed through local financing.
On May 13, 2024, we received the new yellow Vespa with the promise of registration within a week. Yet again, they failed us. The vehicle was taken for registration and additional fittings after another heated argument, but even then, it was delayed for three days. When the Vespa was finally returned, they still didn’t provide the registration number. Instead, they gave us more excuses, telling us to wait another 2-3 days. Like fools, we trusted them again, only to be strung along once more.
It took two months before we got a call from the finance department of Vespa’s parent showroom in Tondaiyarpett, asking about the loan process. We were stunned to learn that our vehicle hadn’t even been registered! We had been driving it for two months, believing everything was in order, while they did absolutely nothing. They didn’t even bother to provide the service book or vehicle manuals. When we confronted them—again—they couldn’t care less. All they did was insist that we process the loan, promising that the registration number would follow the next day. This was a blatant lie, adding to the mountain of deceit we had already endured.
The loan process was another disaster. After countless failed attempts to get it approved under my wife's name, we had no choice but to process it under mine. Even then, after the loan was approved on July 31, 2024, the vehicle STILL isn’t registered. We’ve been driving an unregistered vehicle for three whole months! And now, when we try to contact the dealer, they simply ignore us. Even when we brought the parent showroom into the conversation, the dealer’s only response was to demand the vehicle back for registration—without providing the spare vehicle they promised.
To top it all off, the fittings and helmet they provided are an absolute joke—scratched, rusty, and dusty, despite their claim that they came from an authorized showroom. The helmet is old and worn out, clearly a display piece that’s been used by countless others. This is the final straw. We are beyond angry and exhausted from this endless cycle of lies, deception, and incompetence.
We are demanding immediate and severe action against this dealer. If nothing is done, we will be left with no choice but to escalate this matter to the consumer court and make our story public on social media. No amount of compensation can undo the damage and stress this has caused us.
This situation is unacceptable, and we will not be silenced or ignored any longer. Attached are photos that further highlight the appalling state of the products we received.
Sincerely,
Sabarish. M
