[Resolved]  Volkswagen India — ABS Sensor type 2(beta) error at 17k kms

Address:VW KUN MADRAS, ALANDUR

I am writing this complaint after going response less from Kun Madras Alandur.
I had already filed a grievance with VW customer care last Saturday (10th Oct). VW alandur customer service representative contacted me after that and informed me that ABS sensor have very short life and so they can't do anything.
I asked them to send me a mail stating this, which they haven't done till now.

But as per my knowledge, ABS sensors failure at 17k kms is unacceptable and moreover, the sensors failed only after servicing from VW Madras.
When I left the car for service, no MIL was on. But when they delivered the car, ABS MIL was ON.

Even if we consider that the sensors have failed, if the failure has not been detected all the way when I was driving, isn't that violation of OBD rules? Isn't that Beta error, wherein failure has happened and OBD hasn't detected it!? Shouldn't company be worried about the safety of customer if their sensors fail to detect the failure and show it up in the dash?

No answer for the above question was given from service side.
All they did was to suggest me to change all 4 sensors, since other three might also have chance of failing in near future.

Since I bought the car itself trusting VW brand and its customer service, I agreed to their suggestion of changing all 4 sensors and requested them to offer me discount to change all the 4 ABS Sensors.

They informed me that if I replace all 4 sensors, i will get them done for 16k, else each sensor costs 6k, which would make me pay 24k for four sensors, if I replace them separately.

Since I am doing regular check ups and maintenance of car, I requested VW that I will take up 50% of the cost to change all four sensors( which is 8k) and remaining should be borne by company, since sensor failure at only 17k kms is unacceptable and failure to meet the OEM standard.

But they just try to deny my request by saying car is not under warranty.
I suspect something wrong with this approach and all they want is to loot customers money by creating sensor issue and making them replace it saying MIL is ON.

The service executive who undertook my car for service has previously informed me (on 3rd October) that he will order for the sensors stock and inform me within two days time which was 6th October. Till today he hasn't called me regarding that.

I seriously doubt the genuineness of VW MADRAS Alandur, considering whatever experience I have gone through till now. I have gone through so much of pressure both mentally and physically because of this and I am scared to drive my VW car.

Atleast now, I request VW India to intervene in this issue and help me get it resolved as soon as possible.

Complaint marked as Resolved
It is not resolved yet. Company has blamed it entirely on the customer saying ABS sensors can fail only at 17k kms. They haven't offered me any concession to change the sensors. I have lost all the trust on VW brand and i will never ever recommend the brand to anyone. Inspite of yearly service, you will end up spending your hard earned money on replacing sub-par sensors every now and then
