Whirlpool India — Defective Product and Frequent Failures

Hi Team,

We bought a whirlpool 440 Ltrs double door refrigerator and once it was delivered we saw some damages while unpacking and the top door was drooping down. Once we raised this issue with the Demo guy he said we are not responsible and you should have made a video, he also said the door is always drooping to give a sense of play but the top door was just touching the bottom door at extreme opening edge, we some how started living unhappily with it. Now when it was under warranty there was water leakage from back water collector which started after using it for 3 months and was from long and we thought it was normal but later after seeing many videos and learning on other refrigerators we came to know it was a problem, we called them back. They visited and suggested that there is a problem which occurs one in 100 refrigerator's and we may have to replace the coil with double coil near compressor. They did that and by this time our warranty got expired. Also note now they said that the door was not fitted properly and they realigned the door by removing the top freezer door and fixing it back and now it looked good and we stayed with the drooping door for an year now( the coil replacement was done at home and it was so risky
and it caused lot of inconvenience). Now after 15 days of double coil change there was an excess build up of ice in refrigerator every day and we noticed suddenly that there is no cooling from two days in refrigerator. We again called the whirlpool demo guy now he say's the fan motor has failed due to excess ice build up. Now since we are very sure we didn't have this problem before coil change we are not happy. Also the guy says he will replace the fan at an additional costs 1400 rs. But when we ask that if they are sure if it will not occur back they are hesitant to answer and are not able to identify the exact reason nor tell us the reason for ice build and related motor failure for the Fan. We have till now requested many times to replace this fridge since it is defective and we are struggling from day one, they are still convincing us to now go for an extended insurance which we don't need. We are not ready to pay again for a defective piece,
The demo guy is again wanting us to replace the fan/motor but not sure why it happened or cannot guarantee us that this would not happen shortly. Our relatives are happy keeping other brands with zero issue and now they have almost crossed 2-4 year and happy, but we are sobbing every day buying this product. When I again requested today they are suggesting to pay extra 20 thousand and get the same product as replacement. I request whirlpool to take this as a request and either replace us the refrigerator with no additional costs or please pay back our initial amount we paid for refrigerator, we are not ready to take any more risk or deal with these abnormalities.

The repair guys are confusing us and making us to live with it now by asking us to extend the warranty or live with failures.
