Hi,
I have booked a ticket from Auckland to Delhi airline ticket for my wife on 24/06/2017 from www.yatra.com. On the booking page it comes up with Traveler details. I have entered the name of my wife as per passport.
Just to keep the name private, my wife's name as per passport is:
Given Name: xxxx Kaur
Surname: (nothing in the surname - its blank)
On the yatra booking page, I have put the details as below
First name: xxxx
Last Name: Kaur
Since my wife's last name is Kaur and the Last name field is mandatory so I put Kaur in the last name.
After booking the ticket, I got to know from my friend that when customer don't have a surname in the passport, Airlines have some criteria to enter the name.
I have emailed Yatra and they replied that I should put the name as below as per the Airline policy:
First Name: Mrs.
Last name: xxxx Kaur
And they checked with airline and they replied that the name entered by me is not as per the airline policy and I have to cancel the ticket and rebook it.
Yatra.com advised me to bear the Airline cancellation charges which is Rs.8, 526.
I have spent 1 hour on international call from New Zealand and so many emails to let them know that my wife's name is still correct. It's not misspelt, and no changes in the name. It's just the placement of the name.
I have told them that Yatra.com should put the disclaimer on the booking page with Airline name policy but they are not agreeing that it's Yatra.com mistake.
I have told them if this would be highlighted on their website that as per the Airline policy, you have to enter the name in this way, obviously I will put the name in that manner. But they are adamant and wanted to make commission by getting my ticket cancelled and rebook it.
My Yatra ticket reference number is [removed].
