[Resolved]  Honda Unicorn — Defect in Bike and Customer Service

My name Arun Kumar and I bought a HONDA Unicorn from Didar Motors Chennai (#340 (old # 654), Anna Salai, Chennai – 600006) on 18th Feb 2008. The bike was good, until I found out this defect. This Unicorn Bike in allergic to water, the moment it gets wet the engine cools down and bike turns off. When I visited some websites to figure out what has gone wrong, I got replies from forum members saying it’s a common defect in UNICORN and I need to get this fixed. Being an Engineer I accept a defect can occur in a product, and I don’t blame HONDA for this. But what followed was even more surprising. First I went to Didar motors saying I have this problem, the guy had a look at the bike, looked at spark plug and then gave it back to me saying “Now it’s fine…” Four days after this had happened, we had rain in Chennai, and the same old problem reappeared. This time after completely getting myself drenched in rainwater I somehow managed to push my bike to a nearest service center JSP Honda Vepery. An authorized service center in charge gave me this reply “Sir. I understand your problem, but I suggest you to take it to Didar, we will have problems servicing it here”. Next day I went to Didar again, this time the person in charge of that service station said to a mechanic “Same problem which we had in the Black one, look into this…” I was finally happy; some one has recognized my bike’s problem. He got the bike back in 10 mins. I got even more excited thinking they have super mechanics who can fix such problems in matter of minutes. But I had doubts in my mind so finally decided to give it for First Service on 27th March (again in Didar). This time, I asked him to retest this problem. Next day I got the bike saying “It’s all fine….” Today 31st march again we had rain in Chennai, and again the problem reappeared. Again I took my bike to Didar at 6.15PM saying I have this problem, the attitude with which the person in charge replied to me has actually got me upset. The guy replied “Get the Bike tomorrow when it is raining, we will test drive the Bike in rain and then see what can be done….” in a manner, as if I am asking him for some HELP. I literally pleaded to him, to have my mike there and have a closer look at it. HONDA Company did not gift me this bike, I bought this Bike with my hard earned money for Rs 62, 160.00 + Rs 868.00 (accessories) and I expect only things which a person normally expects out of his Bike and nothing more. For all along I was quite, but now I feel things are going above a tolerable level. Consumer’s right should be protected, and it is not only the responsibility of a Company but also (Dealers, Sub dealers) every single person associated with it. I don’t know whom I should report this to, so I send this mail to every single mail ID of persons whom I think can really help me. Dear sir, my name is joseph from pondicherry, sir i dont want to drag my complaint all this page i just want to make it very short about your honda dealer in pondicherry. MOHAM HONDA the service is very poor they are not giving any respect to the customers without customers what is the use of the showroom. sir selling bike is not important even i can sell your bikes if you send me some 10 nos, feedback is important they dont know how to manage i booked my bike on 1/2/2012 and i got delivery on 7/5/2012. in this period they have not even given a single call about the delivery all the time i have to call and ask till date they have not been intimated about the number plate.

i do have similar problem with my "honda CB unicorn". when ever i go for a ride in rain or ride from a stalled water on road my bike will halt and will start after a min again. but it was fixed now please follow below procedure it may work for u.
1. firstly blow u r motorcycle fuel tank breather pipe from fuel tank side, which cleans the dust and residues that are blocking air to the fuel tank. this will allow fuel to flow freely.
2. drain fuel in u carb for 10 sec through carb drain pipe. this will drain water from the carb if present.
3. finally locate fuel tank breather pipe, carb drain pipe and battery breather pipe at the bottom o[censored] bike near rear tire and keep them away from the tire(better to keep all the pipe away from tire). this will help water from tire going in to the pipes which blocks breathing.

i bought Honda bike unicorn in Hasan Honda showroom in pondicherry...yesterday i gave my bike to service to thier service centre by morning 9.30am and i told engine noice complaint to them.they told by evenging they will what problem in engine, evening i went there but my bike was left as it is in the morning where i parked, i asked them, they told within half an hour they ill prepare and give and they charging 450rs for free service...and i canceled my free service and after my cancellation they are telling we wont give engine warranty...i thought Honda will treat their coustmer in better way ...i was not given a proper solution for my problem and Hasan honda service centre service is bad

I am very much Interested with HONDA BIKES, from 2004 to till date i am using HONDA BIKES only. Currently I am using HONDA UNICOR BLACK - TN20BQ9523.

But here after i won’t buy a HONDA bikes because of poor service at HONDA dealers and lot of concerns coming in my bike & no uses in manufacturer’s warranty.

Totally dissatisfied with HONDA service & warranty coverage. The concerns are below mentioned:

Concern - 1

Problem : Speedometer not working after service from the dealer - JSP HONDA Add:22-24, Padipudhu Nagar Main Road Annanagar West Extn. Ph:[protected]

Action : I Informed to JSP Service Advisor & Service Manager about speedometer concern, they noticed and replaced speedometer cable under chargeable basis without taking approval from me. The amount is not a matter for me but the dealer work is very poor & bad.

Note : After replacement of speedometer cable the speedometer needle was osculating (it is slowly & fluctuation while needle rising and falling).Still there is a problem in speedometer after dealer service also . (And not giving warranty for the manufacturing failure also)

Comments : I need the good function of my vehicle speedometer immediately without charging me for any reason.

Concern - 2

Problem : Abnormal Noise from chain and RR wheel side.

Action : I Informed to JSP Service Advisor & Service Manager about chain & RR wheel noise concern, they noticed and they charged for chain lubrication without taking approval from me.

Note : After lubrication of chain also the reported chain noise concern is persisting in my vehicle till.

Comments : Arrest the noise immediately without charging me for any reason.

Concern – 3

Problem : Fork oil leak from Front Right side shock absorber.

Action : I informed to JSP service advisor & service manager about fork oil leak concern and I requested service manager to replaced the oil seals under warranty but he said no, after my second request he informant advisor to do favor for me.

But finally the oil seal was replaced under chargeable basis only with 5% discount, and while replacing the oil seal the technician made the scratch on my vehicle front right side shock (ref. attachment)
Already the same side shock was scratch made by dealer side past 4 or 5 months back approximately this matter was well known by service manager also, he promised me for repainting the right side shock.

Note : Still the scratched shock is not re-painted from dealer- JSP.

Comments : Repaint the shock immediately without fail.

Concern – 3

Problem : Abnormal noise coming from engine.

Action : I informed to JSP service advisor about this engine noise, they did the engine valve adjustment under chargeable basis without taking approval from me.
I was asked to service manager why charged for engine valve adjustment but he ask to clarify with floor Incharge, then i asked with floor Incharge he told that engine valve adjustment is not covered under warranty again I was totally dissatisfied with dealer service and manufacturer warranty.

Note : I don’t know that the dealer adjusted valve or not but again the engine noise is coming in my vehicle.

Comments. Arrest the engine noise immediately without charging me for any reason.

I am paying for all the jobs but the compliant is not solving – dealer is cheating me.

Concern - 4

Problem : All locked stuck up & fuel tank lock door out of position(ref. attached photos)

Action : I informed to service advisor about the subjected concern but they not taken any action for the mentioned problem.

At the time of deliver I was noticed and asked the service advisor then only he informed to floor Incharge.

At the time of delivery the floor Incharge doing the lock lubrication in front of me. But they didn’t solve the fuel door out of position concern.

Note : After service my key barrel as found very loosen and I was informed to floor Incharge then he again adjusted the key barrel.

Note 2 : After service lot of concern persisting, like improper fitment of key barrel, self start not working, vehicle getting off while moving with 1st gear & scratches etc..

Comments : Solve the problem without charging me for any reason.

The above mentioned 4nos. of concern reported to the dealer and hand over the vehicle on 29.11.2012 and took delivery on 1.12.2012 at 4pm only.

For the above concerns the dealer are taken 3days, it is very poor and totally dissatisfied with service, delivery time taken and washing also.

Note: The mentioned problems not yet short out from dealer but they charged for all the mentioned problems rework or replacement job – dealer is fooling me.

The above mentioned problems need to solve immediately without charging me for any reason.

Take immediate action and get bake to me.

Concern – 5

Problem: Engine Noise – Reported date: 06.07.2012

Action: I informed to service advisor – JSP HONDA, they did engine O/H and replaced engine parts under warranty except KIT, OIL SEAL, GASKET RR CASE, GASKET CYLINDER and WASHER PLUG DRAIN.

They charged for the above mentioned parts & labour cost also.

Note : After this engine O/H from dealer again the engine oil leaking via GASKET, HEADCOVER due to poor work at dealer end.

Again I paid for part & labour amount for replacement of GASKET, HEADCOVER. So for dealer problem I am paying its very bad. (Ref. Invoice No: 121WO4222 Dt: 10.07.2012 & Invoice No: 121WO5678 Dt: 11.08.2012.)

Note: I don’t know why the dealer is doing this kind of poor work and making the customer dissatisfied.

Serious Issue : Rust is developing in my vehicles (ref. the attached file), what a poor quality of paint, metals, bolts, nuts & screws from HONDA .

Take this rust concern serious and re-paint the rusted areas & replaced the rusted screws, nuts and bolts without charging me for any reason.

Take immediate action and get back to me.

i 'll purchase honda unicorn before one n half year, but my bikes kick is not working condition, i'll complaint many time into the service center but not result from us.

I Have Unicorn vehicle, I have one question?, i want fit engine switch to my bike any problem is arising can you please suggest me, suppose I put engine switch my unicorn what happen ? Please guide me, I want engine switches like apache, pulsar this vehicle having engine switch I want like that switch in my unicorn also.

I m Rikin Rohit from Silvassa. I request the M.D. of the honda company to plz lookover the service station here in Silvassa.
They don't have any respect for the customers. For them customers are meant to cut pockets. I many times got charged for just nothing. The only reasn to charge they say " sorry sir now nothing can be done as computerised bill can't be cancelled" why should we pay for just a check up. Please sir solve my problem any how...
I have bought Honda unicorn 150cc in FEB 2012. After one month immediately front disc plate having problem with noise at that time I think its my mistake with driving and I changed it with disc plate and disc plate. But I am wrong its manufacturing defect i think so because after that past three years I have changed it 5 times.Its bad impression for me against Honda brand name now I hate Honda unicorn I have spent lots of money only for this . No solution I have tried different show rooms but its not worked still I am facing this issue If anybody having this problem please do complaint it and if this is having solution please suggest. now I Suggested every one not buy Honda vehicle.

Very different types of noise come in cabin from the dashboard
I have purchased cb unicorn 150 in September 2017 from Lakhani auto Aurangabad mh. And now I thought it is my mistake for purchase of hod abike bcoz within 8 month there are lots of problem related to my bike like compresor leackage, mono suspension not working, bad quality tyre so that I have to change that. So unsatisfied with Honda 2 wheelers.i have contacted showroom, company, regional office Pune but very poor response from their side
i am really unsatisfied with the service provided by REHOBOTH HONDA SERVICE CENTER IN TIRUNELVELI... how can i solve my problem plz let me know soon..
