[Resolved]  Honda Unicorn — Defect in Bike and Customer Service

Hi,
My name Arun Kumar and I bought a HONDA Unicorn from Didar Motors Chennai (#340 (old # 654), Anna Salai, Chennai – 600006) on 18th Feb 2008. The bike was good, until I found out this defect. This Unicorn Bike in allergic to water, the moment it gets wet the engine cools down and bike turns off. When I visited some websites to figure out what has gone wrong, I got replies from forum members saying it’s a common defect in UNICORN and I need to get this fixed. Being an Engineer I accept a defect can occur in a product, and I don’t blame HONDA for this. But what followed was even more surprising. First I went to Didar motors saying I have this problem, the guy had a look at the bike, looked at spark plug and then gave it back to me saying “Now it’s fine…” Four days after this had happened, we had rain in Chennai, and the same old problem reappeared. This time after completely getting myself drenched in rainwater I somehow managed to push my bike to a nearest service center JSP Honda Vepery. An authorized service center in charge gave me this reply “Sir. I understand your problem, but I suggest you to take it to Didar, we will have problems servicing it here”. Next day I went to Didar again, this time the person in charge of that service station said to a mechanic “Same problem which we had in the Black one, look into this…” I was finally happy; some one has recognized my bike’s problem. He got the bike back in 10 mins. I got even more excited thinking they have super mechanics who can fix such problems in matter of minutes. But I had doubts in my mind so finally decided to give it for First Service on 27th March (again in Didar). This time, I asked him to retest this problem. Next day I got the bike saying “It’s all fine….” Today 31st march again we had rain in Chennai, and again the problem reappeared. Again I took my bike to Didar at 6.15PM saying I have this problem, the attitude with which the person in charge replied to me has actually got me upset. The guy replied “Get the Bike tomorrow when it is raining, we will test drive the Bike in rain and then see what can be done….” in a manner, as if I am asking him for some HELP. I literally pleaded to him, to have my mike there and have a closer look at it. HONDA Company did not gift me this bike, I bought this Bike with my hard earned money for Rs 62, 160.00 + Rs 868.00 (accessories) and I expect only things which a person normally expects out of his Bike and nothing more. For all along I was quite, but now I feel things are going above a tolerable level. Consumer’s right should be protected, and it is not only the responsibility of a Company but also (Dealers, Sub dealers) every single person associated with it. I don’t know whom I should report this to, so I send this mail to every single mail ID of persons whom I think can really help me. I purchased honda unicorn bike on 14.11.2009 frm V. J. Honda, midc ground, Dombivli (E). showroom. But after last (4th) servicing on 27.05.2010,
i am facing lot of average problem. Prior to 4th servicing average was giving 50-53 km (per LTR) in the city & After last servicing it has reduced, i am getting 30-35 km (per LTR) & also vibrant on 60 speed.
I had gone there at Dombivli (E) service centre they changed the setting & said its now fine, it was happened 4 to 5 timed with me but nobody giving proper response to me.

Honda Unicorn — Unsatisfied service

Hello,I have unicorn bike since from last 3year's but i m really disappointed with your service station having here in gandhidham(kutch),I used to have regular services in your service station,but i had never got back an accuarte result even for my silli problems too.Now i am got sick from the average problem which i am facing since last 2.1/2years and which still remaining same. As i would request you if you could improve your service station so that the people like me can save themselve by suffering from such kind of problems.

when someone thinks to have a new bike first he/she thinks only about HONDA's.but as per review overall the market, due to your poor service we now we really have to think twice to purchase any of HONDA's vehicle.

As the HONDA is one of the leading and reputated company in all over the world. There are lot of positive expectation from HONDA for having best of best result for every kind of problems and facilites.

so we hope to have positive and loyal actions on above,please.

Hi, iam ramesh from Hyderabad...if the problem comes again and again with that bike even after servicing. then u can give a complaint to Police department and Honda Company authorities and leave a complaint in Consumer forum also..becoz they didnot gift the bike to us...we bought these Bike with we hard earned money...give a complaint..then they will set right.

Honda Unicorn — delay of delivery

I have booked new Honda unicorn at A.M.Honda Tirur on[protected] now 6 month is over, but still i didnt get it, they cant say when will they dliver the Bike..
Same is with me... I had booked with Johns HONDA, thrissur on FEB 5th 2009, still no new of delivery...
They simply keep extending the wait. Maybe its atrick to sell off their new model...

delivery o[censored]nicorn& shine, they make very long delay, .in many of Honda showrooms are not accepting booking now...I request you to pls make a solution for this problem.
They are always like that... I am waiting more than 3 months...Pls someone could explain this?

I am working as a Regional Finance Executive in a multi national company at Mumbai. I purchased Honda Unicorn black colour barring no ME4KC093H98091389 from your sai point, ganesh wadi, Thane, vide tax invoice no 1677 dt 9/9/2009 with extended warranty of 3 years.
I have done servicing at your Thane/ Kharegoan kalwa service centers as per the dates alloted & I have installed security systems to avoid theft and other mischevious activities.
I have not been advised by your service centre personnel to remove this as it will create problem in the vehicle in the long run.
But due to my bad luck the vehicle has come under repair/maint & I had to consult your service center at Thane.I have been told that Some repairs are to be done ( I got good co- operation from Santosh & Devendra during repairs).
To my surprise they have billed me for CDI unit covered under warranty period, the reason being the installation of security system.The person named Riyaz confirms that CDI unit is covered under extended warranty policy no [protected]/certificate no HMM215470.
I would like to inform you that such a reputed organisation like your should not follow such type of fraudulent practices.
Hence I am requesting you to refund my amount paid by me vide bill no 317367 dated 21/7/2010 for Rs 2740 immediately.The vehicle has not completed 10 months as on date.
plz do not give excuses for instaling the security system in the vehicle which is removed now.

you post your grievances in the HONDA web site itself and bash them like any thing. then only they will respond. they r all non ethical people . we need to be harsh with them ( mean literally to exploit them in lay man terms ) . i[censored] have soft corner for them they will sit on u head and ask u to do work and will make u pay for that also.. so bash them kick them, screw them ...
i have experienced a lot with JSP same kind of problems...

I had booked a Unicorn black colour bike on 2nd Jan 2010 from PRATIIK HONDA/KUNAL MOTORS – Vashi, Navi Mumbai; reciept no. 13666. It has been over six months and the bike has still not been delivered. I have tried to get in touch with the staff there, but have always been put off with the excuse of ’15 days more.’ When I had booked the bike I was given a waiting period of one month; I hope there is a valid explaination for a 5 month extension. I have also incurred a loss of Rs. 1000 during this waiting period as on several occasions I had to travel up and back to no resolve.
If at all there is an issue with this particular dealer, I would not mind getting the bike from another dealer; provided there are no glitches in the process. Another issue I would like to bring to your notice would be the price of when I booked the bike and the current, there is a difference of almost Rs. 4000 which I do not see myself paying.
I hope you can resolve this issue at the latest and avoid anymore inconvenience.

this is usual with Unicorn, i am facing this one for last 2 months after rains have started in mumbai.ihave serviced my bike for 2 time in two months, the moment the rain stops the bike is ok but if you are riding and if the rain starts the engine turn off.
Nobody can fix this promblem now i am convicing my friends not to buy this bike.
this is really frustating thing we belived in big name and we are now getting rots as if we are fooled by HONDA.

i would like to inform you that for replace my unicorn fuel tank. i gave my bike(K L 27 6854) on[protected] at THITUVALLA MUTHOOT HONDA .The service manager told me ' RED FUEL TANK ' is not avilable so the work will finished around 15 days.after 40 days they told me the work is not finished the reson is tank is not avilable so what i can do. will you please take needful action early as possible

This is one of the worst Show room at Hyderabad, Autofin H'nagar brach never reaches to satisfy their customers even 1% among their total customers due to the non-skilled labor / employees. If we go to their showroom / service centre, we would get a feeling that we are at some govt office where nobody cares about the customers. What is my bad experience is they have charged >1000Rs for my new bike from 2nd free service onwards ie, within 4 months of bike purchase date (My Honda Shine bike doesn't have any damaged parts / no accidental issue) for the parts like Front disk brake oil, Chain Kit, Break plates...

I came to known from one of the trusted sources from their showroom that their service centre guys will be remove the geniune parts at First service and will be replace with junk parts, the same thing happened for my bike also.

Please dont go for any Autofine showroom, this is my sencere suggestion.
Yeah, Honda may be hurry to get delivered despite lot of bookings . Things come across like this some times . better to replace with new one or get fixed from factory .

Honda Unicorn — battery complaint

i have purchased honda cb unicorn a month back,now its giving lot of problems,,, for eg:self start,battery,headlight,dim
My name Hiten Patel and I bought a HONDA CB TWISTER from NAVARJAN MOTORS, BHARUCH, GUJARAT. on 27th JULY 2010. The bike was good, until I found out this defect. In This Bike there is a problem of oil leakage from the engine. Being an Engineer I accept a defect can occur in a product, and I don’t blame HONDA for this.there is another problem which i am facing now a days that i am not finding the genuine parts of my bike even from the service station from the authorised dealers of HONDA it self.I've tried out almost all the showrooms of GUJARAT for find out the head light unit of my bike.But surprisingly none of them is ready to give satisfactory answer.I had never expected this type of customer service from a reputed company whose tag line says that"I ENOY THE QUALITY".Is this the way to treat a customer? For all along I was quite, but now I feel things are going above a tolerable level. Consumer’s right should be protected, and it is not only the responsibility of a Company but also (Dealers, Sub dealers) every single person associated with it.
