My father was travelling to the US with my mother, who was in a wheelchair. Three "official" AI ground staff/porters asked my father to pay money to each of them to wheel my mother to a connecting flight.
When my father refused, they stopped the wheelchair in the middle of the airport. In a hurry, my father took out a Rs. 100 note. The porters said the minimum charge was 300 Rs. As my father couldn't afford to miss the flight to Chicago, he paid total 300 Rs and asked all three staff personnel to adjust among themselves.
I thought wheelchair assistance was the right of people. Airlines even have it officially requested through their booking. And in any case, stalling someone on the way to catch a long distance flight to take a bribe is absolutely outrageous, isn't it? Was this information helpful? |
