Airtel — Airtel is asking to return the Setup box while disconnecting

I am a customer of airtel DTH for my home since 2010 (A/c: [protected]) and due to more package charges at our region (while comparing to other providers Malayalam channels also less in airtel digital tv) I am disconnecting this service. I was under the impression that while we take a DTH connection the setup box is the property of customer - but I have received a call from Airtel office yesterday by asking to return the setup box if I was not recharging the account. So I called to customer care at our region on the number provided in your website:[protected] for getting more information regarding this issue. They told me that the setup box will taken back by Airtel after paying an amount to customer ( Reference Number: 42009628 Date: 06/01/2015) – so asked them for proceeding with disconnecting procedures. But after few hours I received a call from Airtel call center ( Reference Number:[protected] and they told me there is no such refund to the customer and I must return the equipments (Setup box, remote and card) and your engineer will come my home for taking this. I like to get a clarification on few things : 1. why there is two responses from your customer care for a single issue. 2. If the equipment is yours then why you didn’t done the maintenance free of cost when I had a incident. 3. If equipment is yours – why it is not mentioning in your website (if it is mentioned – pls provide me the link) Regards Jayant +91 [protected]
