I had been using this Airtel number ([protected]) for the past 14 years and not once did I port out of Airtel (just in and out of postpaid but within Airtel).
I had taken a duplicate SIM yesterday, October 8 around 5 PM.
It was told to me that it will be activated in a maximum of 4 hours.
It has been around 31 hours now and it still has not been activated. I tried putting it in many other phones and still, it is unable to connect to the network. I can search for networks, but it cannot connect to the network manually or automatically. I just see the message that only Emergency calls are available. The number is [protected]
I tried calling 121 from another number, but could not find a method to reach a person to talk even after several attempts. I tried DMing and also tweeting on Twitter, but no response.
I am seeing the official Twitter handle responding to many other customers' complaints and several of them were posted hours after I had tweeted and DM'd them. I even tried Facebook DM, Facebook Timeline posts, and emails.
Yesterday was Sunday and hence there are no airtel shops or kiosks open anywhere.
I'm stuck without my primary number now, a number that gives me both official and bank OTPs. I can't even log in to any apps due to the OTPs being necessary. I cannot book apps/order food via my phone. Getting 2FA for work on my phone via SMS is now difficult too. Was this information helpful? |
