Airtel — excess billing for airtel mobile postpaid | |||||
Hi, Have serious billing issue with airtel mobile. Generally - i do not care much and do not check my monthly statement. However - i got a shock with my last month's bill and hence took a deep dive on my itemized bill. Issue is with charges against my international roaming. - i called airtel to ask for roaming pack for europe. They suggested me options and i chose a 30 day pack for europe (My trip was for 3 weeks). Deal is 3999/- + gst for 30 day pack. And it covers (I) unlimited incoming calls (Ii) 500 min 'free' call from any country to any country within europe (Any country) and from europe to india and (Iii) 5 gb data within europe. My need was for italy, france and switzerland. And i was confirmed that with 3999/- pack, i am fully covered with above limits. I was told in that call that there is no other charges. On return - during my next bill, i was expecting a bill amount of some 6000/- or 7000/- rupees, but to my surprise, i saw a bill of some 12000/- +. So i called airtel for clarification. And as usual - the agents were not very clear on the policies and had to escalate for clarification, etc. After multiple calls and interactions - the outcome summary is that i have been charged additional for the following: I) calls within europe (One country to another) to be charged (Though i was told with europe - all calls are free. E. G. I was charged when i called paris from italy. Ii) i had been charged additional international roaming fee of 999/- + tax as extra - as my mobile got connected to internet in oman - during my transit. What the hell would my international roaming be activated. I did not ask for it - i just asked for europe pack. And if it is the process - why nobody told this to me while airtel was activating my europe pack? How can airtel activate packs without consumer consent? And then bills extra money? This is cheating! Iii) now to my surprise - after 1.5 month, i get my next month's bill, and i am surprised to see that i have been charged rs 999/- + tax again as my international roaming? What the heck is it? I already informed them that i am back from europe and there should not be any further charges. When i called airtel, they say it was on my return - that my phone again got connected to internet in oman, and hence my international roaming charges are applied This is pure case of cheating customers – that i had to pay unknowingly, and pay penalty for the ignorance of airtel agents / employees, who have misguided me during the call. And the billing team is seating like hawks – working with a policy that the sales & customer support team is probably not aware about. In any case – my complaint against airtel is for the following: - airtel cannot activate international roaming pack without my consent. Even if i switch on my phone in oman (Or any other country) during transit, data pack should not have been activated - airtel cannot charge extra for those inter-eu country calls (E. G. From italy to france). It was an all-inclusive pack that i booked with those limits (500 min/5gb/unlimited incoming) - i was charged some 7000/- extra in may and now some 1000/-+ in june. Need airtel to reverse all these additional charges as these are not legitimate, not as per agreement / contract. I would like to penalise airtel for such behaviour - of cheating innocent consumers. I am sure top management / sunil mittal would not like to see his company adopting such mischievous tricks and fooling common people in india.
