I visited Mauritius on 8th of June 2017 and using the airtel app requested the international roaming pack of Rs 149 which seems reasonable and was planned to be used in an emergency only.
I did not get any message for the activation and on 10th of June morning 5:30 AM I got an SMS that Rs 2282.00 has been charged for Data and send SMS to deactivate it. I deactivated it via SMS and I am sure that I have been charged around 200+ for that SMS also.
It's an exorbitant amount for someone who's bill is around 500 per month that too without informing about the service activation. Now my last month bill is Rs. 3489.00.
I discussed the same with Airtel on 121 and they informed me that 3MB of data is being used and I have been charged Rs. 2500.00 for that. 3 Mb is something that is used by smartphone apps and services without I get to know.
I need Airtel to wave off such charges which I was not informed about and stop fooling consumers with such non-sense charges without informing in advance.
Below is the message I received on 10th June morning 5:20 AM. Which actually alerted me that my international roaming is activated and I have been cheated too. The irony is that to discontinue such a non-sense also I have been charged for the SMS.
"Usage alert: As per the last update, approx. international roaming usage on your airtel mobile [protected] is Rs 2282. Usage Breakup: Voice-Rs. 0, Data-
Rs. 2282. To stop the services, SMS NO to [protected] " Was this information helpful? |
I did not receive any sms during the period of my stay in Mauritius from airtel for charges and service activation but there system is saying that it's sent so it's sent. What I am saying is not a concern to them.
I could not figure out what can be done if you don't accept anything.
