[Resolved]  Airtel — Harassed by Airtel for making excess payment

I am NRI and visited India during Feb-March of 2015. Around 12th Feb 2015, I took a Postpaid airtel connection ([protected]). I left India on March 16th and never used your service after that. However I forgot to cancel my connection when leaving India. My billing date is on 28th of each month. After receiving the March bill, I realized I need to cancel the connection. On 15-April, I called customer care center to cancel my connection. However the representative offered me 'Safe Custody' plan for which I was needed to make a prorated payment for month of April and also make additional payment ahead of time towards the safe custody. Accordingly, I made two payments on 15th April, while I was on the call with customer service. 1. Payment for March Bill (Transaction ID - 283942 Amount Rs.1932.59) 2. Another payment of Rs1190 (Transaction ID - 287978), which was for: a. Prorated charges till April 15th (My Billing date is 28th) (~Rs870) b. Additional amount of Safe-Custody fees (~Rs300) Unfortunately that customer care representative didn't offer any interaction/reference ID. I didn't ask it either as I never thought that this is really needed for a simple task like this one. The only proof I can show is the payments above. See transaction ID 287978 and anyone with unbiased common sense can tell that that second payment on that day will not be done unless I a customer care representative gave me that amount to settle my account and move it to safe custody. I can't reach airtel customer care number - [protected]. It is a JOKE. All it gives is two options - Loss of SIM card and new connection!! There is no one I can talk to resolve this issue. I left so many emails to Airtel with no meaning response. I think Airtel contractors get to reply and all they care is "GRAB" money from customers. Airtel keeps calling my parents 2-3 times every day and harass them. I can't make a payment for a mistake that airtel did. I my Sincere opinion, I made excess payment and Airtel is just bullying customers like me to make payments that we don't owe. I will never ever use Airtel again.
