Airtel — My airtel number got deleted suddenly

I was using airtel prepaid sim(converted from postpaid in July 2020) and kept recharging it with Rs.598 plan (having 1.5 gb per day for 84 days) since conversion. Lastly i recharged it on 10th December 2020, so it had validity till 1st week of March 2021 atleast.
But suddenly on 28th January 2021, my airtel stopped working. I couldnt make calls or message anyone. When people tried calling me it said inval number.
I tried repalcing the sim in different slot and different phone, that didnt work. So then i checked My Airtel app, and it showed the error "Unable to load account details". Then i called the customer care, they are like our system is showing that ur number doesnt exist in our system so we cant help you u need to visit airtel store. Now there in store they tried assigning me the same number but it showed error something like unable to load details.
So then i couldnt get my number back and its unclear about what exactly happened overnight. How did my number got deleted from airtel system. Do they not have their proper database maintenance or anyone can go around and remove random data. Or was it a data loss during migration issue (if any, going on in airtel).

I verified my sim details if my sim has been hacked, but there was no unknown calls in call logs or any suspicious message to begin with.
So in that context, my number was safe.

Now its clearly mishandling from airtel side and here i am without any proper explanation.
