[Resolved]  Airtel — Unethical behaviour & scam on data allowance

In regards to my existing airtel voice and broadband connection, the issues that i have been facing are -:
1. Scam on data allowance
2. Unethical behaviour

As complainant, i will start by describing issue #2. I was unable to pay to my broadband connection bill from december 2015 to february 2016 as i was out of country and i forgot to inform airtel to put my account on hold. The cumulative pending bill for that duration was inr 6800. After few reminder calls that was not forwarded to me, my internet connection got disconnected and services were disabled for my account at the start of march 2016. When i came back in april 2016, i received the call from airtel representative 'meenu' who told me that the due amount is inr[protected]+1239). When i asked about the additional inr 1239, she said it was due amount for march to april. I told her that i will not pay inr 1239 because airtel disconnected my services in march hence it is meaningless to pay when the services were already disabled. She agreed and said that if i pay inr 6800 the rest amount (Inr 1239) will be waived off. I made the payment and called her after 2 weeks to remind her to waive off the charges. She said that she would do it right away. It has now been a month and my charges haven't been waved off. I reached airtel customer care, they said there is no such conversation on their record so they won't waive off any charges.

Now the issue #1, i had a data allowance of 20gb and every month after 4-5 days i received a mail from airtel that my data has been consumed. I always used to wonder how because i did not watch videos and downloaded anything off the internet. I only used my desktop for surfing minimalistic websites related to my work and whatsapp on cellphone in that time. I made sure that my router was wpa2 protected with alphanumeric password that also included special characters and i especially designed that password to not be susceptible to brute force or wpa handshake hacking methods. Much to my surprise they had no explanation and said "i believe your wifi may be hacked". This was not possible because i had already changed the password a few times every now and then to make sure airtel doesn't give me any excuse. So i came up with a plan. I changed my plan to 5gb data and turned off my router for 2 days. The third day i got a mail that i had consumed 80% of my data allowance. You don't have to be a sherlock holmes to now understand airtel's cheap tricks.

I, as complainant, am willing to escalate this issue to court. I will submit all evidences and call records for grievance redressal.
