Hi Team, This is a kind request to file complaint against airtel for fraudulent billing on my postpaid number [protected]. I was travelling to Germany on 6th September 2018 and without my consent or knowledge they activated international roaming pack and billed for 7400 INR. My usual bill is around 200 INR and my credit limit for airtel if 3600 INR. Still they charged me 34 times of my normal bill. I have been discussing with their customer care and nodal officer from last 4-5 days but they are not ready to admit their mistake. Although they have admitted that pack has been activated by the backend team but nobody knows why. Moreover, there was no communication from either side SMS/email/online etc. Even i have never been informed that some 3000 INR roaming pack is active on my mobile. This pack is activated twice for me, and on 21st of September their records say i called for 5 seconds (which i did not) and charge for those 5 seconds is 180 INR. But instead of 180, they are charging me 2999 + taxes as per pack??? I am being forced to pay the outstanding amount failing which they can bar my services. I will port my number to another service provider today itself. But for October month bill, I am seeking justified action against Airtel for such disappointing customer service and fraudulent billing system. Your kind help will be highly appreciated. Was it a SMS/Mail/Phone Call? You said it was your customer representative who had called me.

But how do you know i have said yes to him? I think he has activated just to meet his targets. If you have proof please give me that recording so that i can pay my dues and finish this ongoing discussion right now. Else, i am sorry i will not be able to pay without confirmation. Case is with consumer court, whatever be the outcome i shall be paying that.

May be i have missed this information but i will keep it for future reference. So please clarify this.

As we discussed in the call again, i am not going to explain same issue to multiple people again and again. So better let us not talk on phone any further, it is just waste of my and your time. In one line my argument is:

I have not requested for IR, i have not been informed by any means that 3000 INR IR package is activated on my mobile so there is no chance i am going to pay even for single penny of IR. Specially the data usage because it was uncalled for.. IR never worked for me before and suddenly this time at switching on of my mobile you have charged all these fraudulent charges.

Sorry to say, This was not expected from a company who claimed to be customer friendly. You do not know who and why IR has been activated on my SIM but you do want me to pay for it. Strange..!!!
Please do not tell me payment modes i have been paying this from last 5 years so i know it very well. Let us discuss in consumer court who has to pay how much and what should be payment method.

I see in the below email you have answered for point number 2 only. Even if i agree with your below statement how come you are saving me from bill shock on 21st Sep? I used only 180 INR as per your records and you charged me 3K + Taxes??? How will you justify activation of 3K pack in this case?:

And i still wonder why you have credit limit of 3600 when you are conspiring to send a billl of 7.4K?As discussed i am not going to pay anything.
Also, i would request you to close my number ASAP because i do not want to associated with airtel by any means going forward.

Let us discuss this matter in consumer court to understand how come this 3000 pack is activated automatically when i never requested for it.
Your customer service always say that we are not going to charge you anything until unless you ask for pack activation and what they do at the backend we are not aware. If i have planned to use this data pack then i would have used at least for whole 10 days, not only 1 day.

As discussed, I have verified details of invoice dated[protected] and noted that International Roaming 10 days Smartpack was valid till[protected]. Any usage beyond the date of expiry of Smartpack would have been charged at significantly higher rates. To prevent bill shocks, international roaming pack is auto-renewed only when usage (incoming calls, outgoing services, data) is found at an international location beyond the pack expiry date.



As you may be aware, international tariff rates are higher when no special pack is active and this may lead to bill shocks. I have sent a copy of itemized bill dated[protected] for your reference, which will help you compare standard international roaming rates with discounted rates.



As seen from the itemized bill, usage (incoming calls, SMS, outgoing services, data) was found beyond the initial pack expiry date, which was on[protected]. Request you to note the itemized charges under ¿International Roaming Usage¿ in your bill. You are therefore charged an International roaming pack rental amount of Rs. 2999/-, and complete discounts are provided beyond the initial pack expiry date also. In the absence of the pack or special discounts, you may have ended up paying a significantly higher amount as International roaming charges.



Your outstanding payable as on date is Rs. 7404.11/-. Please pay using any of the convenient modes of payment.



In future, if you do not wish to continue using International roaming Smartpack post validity, you may register a request for deactivating International roaming smart pack by logging in to your airtel app and following the steps mentioned below -

As informed by Ali i have used 730 MB of data on 6th Sep which i doubt because i was travelling on 6th Sep whole day.
As informed by Ali, i made an international call of 5 seconds on 21st Sep which i doubt again. It can be a miss call but i did not speak to anyone.
As informed by Ali, IR pack was auto renewed which i doubt again because i never used this service ever. How can it auto renewed?

Please let me know if more details are required form my side. As discussed, I am not going to pay anything for this IR package because it was never requested from my side and was activate on my mobile without my consent.
